Postvaricella Basal Ganglia Infarction in Children AJNR 16:449-452, Silverstein,F.S.&Brunberg,J.A., 1995 See this aricle in Pubmed Article Abstract Two patients presented with acute neurologic deficits attributable to contralateral basal ganglia infarction 1 to 3 months after episodes of chickenpox.Both presented with hemiparesis with one patient also demonstrating ipsilateral choreoathetosis,In both patients MR revealed unilateral basal ganglia infarction.Cerebral angiography findings in one patient were normal;in the second,there was unilateral narrowing of the common carotid artery and of proximal branches of the anterior and middle cerebral artery.
